CM Dimba James has won the 2015 edition of the Heroes & Unity Chess Championship, the tournament organized by the Zambian chess federation was held in Zambia, it Kicked off on 5th July and was concluded on 7th July 2015, The eight rounds swiss format event featured a number of strong Zambian players like IM Mwali Chitumbo, FM Phiri Richmond and IM Chumfwa Kelvin who happens to be the top three ranked players at the event with 65 participants in total, however the top players were in for a serious shock and violent resistance by the lower ranked players who successfully proved that the average lower rated Zambian player could just be as tough as the top rated . There were so many upsets during the event and at the end CM Dimba James (2057 ELO) who was 18th in the starting rank was ranked FIRST on the final ranking after giving a very good account of himself and gaining a a massive 101 ELO rating points !! James drew with the very strong FM Phiri Richmond (2305 ELO) in round 2 and defeated , James lost in round 3 to an unrated player after which he won the last five games and beating a higher rated FM Munenga Douglas D (2138) in round 6, a winning streak that ensured he tied for the first spot with FM Phiri Richmond with a total of 6.5/8 points , FM Phiri was unbeaten at the event but was ranked second on tie break as James had more wins . IM Mwali Chitumbo (2325 ELO) did not perform according to his initial ranking and could only manage to get 5/8 points losing 31 rating points as a result he finished 12th at the tournament. IM Chumfwa Kelvin (2241 ELO) ended up with 6/8 points gaining 5 rating points and ranked 5th on the final list. find below the Final ranking table courtesy Chess-result server.
